Last night was the opening ceremony for the Hoosier Salon's 98th Annual Exhibition! An incredible $50,000 in awards was presented, thanks to the generosity of the Salon's Patrons. The room was full of artists and art-enthusiasts, buzzing with excitement and anticipation.
It was an overwhelming honor to recieve 2nd Place overall with my drawing, 'Cherished Memory.' I was shocked and delighted!
Artists Dawn Whitelaw and David Mueller were the jurors for this year's exhibition, both artists I deeply admire. Their task was undoubtedly challenging, with 152 selected from the hundreds of artworks entered. It was a beautiful exhibit.
After the ceremony, I was overjoyed to find that 'Cherished Memory' was purchased by Tri Kappa for their art collection. As dedicated philanthropists and a reputation for supporting the arts, this was a huge honor for me. Meeting three of their members and talking with them only increased my admiration for their group. Each woman was kind, warm, and so encouraging. They informed me that 'Cherished Memory'will be a part of their collection's upcoming tour!
The Hoosier Salon outdid themselves this year with the quality of the event. It makes me look forward with eager anticipation to next year's show!
It was such a lovely, memorable evening. Celebrating with my mom and dear friend (who is like a favorite aunt to me) was so special, and I loved spending time with art friends, both artists and collectors.
The Exhibition is open at the Indiana State Museum from August 27th to October 23rd, with artist videos available through QR codes on the description cards or the Hoosier Salon website.
If you go to see it in person, please consider voting for 'Cherished Memory' or 'Symphony' for the People's Choice Award! It would mean the world to me.
Congratulations to all of the artists in the show!🥳
Thank you for reading!
